Walter 钱宁 (1849-1921) was a psychiatrist and hospital administrator. 他开了一家 psychiatric hospital in Brookline, Mass. in 1879, served as chairman of the board of trustees of the 波士顿州立医院 from 1908 to 1914, and built a new 钱宁疗养院 in Wellesley in 1916.
Dr. 钱宁 was the son of poet William Ellery 钱宁 (1818-1901) and Ellen K. 丰满, sister of the transcendentalist journalist, writer, and critic Margaret Fuller. 他是 five children of the couple; his siblings were Margaret Fuller 钱宁 (1844-1932), Caroline Sturgis 钱宁 (1846-1917), Giovanni Eugene 钱宁 (1853-1921), and Edward Perkins 钱宁 (1856-1931). Detailed Description of the Collection

The bulk of this series consists of the personal and professional correspondence of Walter 钱宁. The series also contains 莫尔斯家族的文件， papers related to Leon F. Czolgosz, writings and reports by 钱宁, and printed matter.

These 18 pocket diaries kept by Walter 钱宁 contain brief entries describing the weather; appointments with patients, probably at the 钱宁疗养院 and Boston State Hospital; social events and engagements; a trip to Italy and France; cultural institutions visited while abroad; and daily activities.
B. 安娜K. (莫尔斯)钱宁卷， 1868-1878
